Fence panels are commonly available in 10′, 12′ and 13′ lengths. While shorter panels may be easier to handle and transport, longer panels allow for quicker set-up (i.e. setting up 120′ of 12′ panels can be 20% faster than setting up the same linear footage of 10′ panels).
Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) requires “if work on a project may endanger a person using a public way, a sturdy fence at least 1.8 meters in height shall be constructed between the public way and the project.” (O. Reg. 213/91, s. 65). Since the OHSA requires 6’ high fencing, this is the most common height available for construction fencing.
